The OGBBC congregation (district) closest to the new plant or the sending congregation most often provide spiritual leadership and oversight to the new plant. After some time settling into the new area, the new congregation may choose to organize as a new district or congregation in the national brotherhood of churches. This process involves choosing a congregation name, choosing an oversight elder from the national brotherhood, establishing district lines and other organizational details.
Initiatives in establishing new congregations outside the United States began as early as 2015. There are a number of out-of-the-country congregation planting efforts that are currently in progress. Church plants operating outside the USA have a strong localized indigenous approach and while the OGBBC missionaries and leaders who serve these efforts maintain home church contact to their US congregations, these churches are not organized specifically under OGBBC polity.
