Our western culture encourages individualism, self-sufficiency, and segregation by age. Electronic technology has moved this further, giving people the ability to connect electronically, while avoiding face to face interaction. It has also encouraged our culture to interact primarily with those within our own age and demographics.
While we are not opposed to communicating electronically, we believe physical multigenerational interaction is best and much is lost when this is neglected. One of the blessings we continue to enjoy is inviting others to our home for a meal with others, and using this time to intermingle. This is a time to discuss happenings from the past week, current events, or questions regarding a particular passage of Scripture. We have found this to be a wonderful opportunity for the younger to receive insight from the older, and for older to listen and learn from the youth as well. It is also a wonderful way to learn to know visitors from a distance or from the local community.
Likewise, ye younger, submit yourselves unto the elder. Yea, all of you be subject one to another, and be clothed with humility: for God resisteth the proud, and giveth grace to the humble. 1 Peter 5:5
