Dear New Conference Brotherhood,

Grace, peace, and truth be yours in Christ Jesus our Lord.

As of March 7, we your Website Advisory Board, have received your suggested adjustments, concerns, and advice regarding the draft version of the ‘We Believe’ document. Thank you each one for your feedback.

We have considered each piece of feedback, sorted them out by topic, weighed them against each other and the Word, and have edited the ‘We Believe’ document accordingly. Our goal was not to create an exhaustive theological document, or even to nail down every tenet and belief of our fellowship. But rather to provide a simple and concise explanation of who we are for the honest seeker.

Our plan, as stated in the letter sent to the churches last year, was to share the adjusted draft with the members at the 2016 Annual Conference and seek brotherhood approval before posting this statement on the website.

As you know, there was an assembly of NC elders in January 2016.  One of the conclusions from that meeting was to appoint 5 brethren to describe the New Testament Vision of our group and also to take responsibility for our various denominational documents.  This would, of course, include the ‘We Believe’ statement which the Website Advisory Board has worked on thus far.

We have now handed the document to the Committee of Elders.  They will be handling any further editing of the document, sharing it with the national elders on Friday before 2016 Annual Conference, and taking care of presenting it at conference for the congregation’s approval as the elders see fit.

Thank you for your support.

Praise Project Link

Sunday, January 17th 2016 6:52 AM

We have removed the link above to the Praise Project due to technical & functional difficulties on the Praise Project. The Praise Project will be terminated at some point in the future. We are investigating the possibility of creating a new Sermon Repository which will be hosted on the ogbbc.org website for all New Conference public worship services. In the meantime, if you have a need for any sermons that were posted on the Praise Project, you can email Caleb Jenkins at "cabeljenkins@gmail.com" and Leonard Meador at "leon.meador@gmail.com" and they will send you the sermons that you need.

Please send donations to Brethren Charity Fund (Attn: PraiseProject), P.O. Box 365, Brookville, OH 45309 if you would like to help with the new Sermon Repository.

Thank you for your cooperation!

Elders Gathering in January in Ohio

Sunday, December 13th 2015 6:28 AM

In order to work toward some reconciliation regarding methods of working among our elders, and to be proactive regarding future planning and vision for our people, we have sent out an invitation to all of the elders in our brotherhood, to meet together the week of January 25, 2016.

All of the elders in the brotherhood were voiced, and 81% were willing for this meeting, and thought it would be a blessing.

This meeting will be held, the Lord willing, at the Brookside Community Center, Brookville, OH.

We ask our people to be in prayer regarding this assembly.

This invitation is a response to interest and concerns of many elders, and young families, and even young people, who have great desire for the continued health of our church.

This call has been sent out by the following brethren:

        Duane Flora                                                                         Lowell Miller

        Ken Hopkins                                                                         Gary Peters

        Michael Miller                                                                       Trent Bowman

Morning Star Building Project Progress Report

Monday, November 30th 2015 9:41 AM

Things have been changing at our future meeting house this summer. We have had work nights there every Tuesday evening.  Since our last update, we have nearly completed the exterior of our building such as siding, porches, parking lot, lighting, etc.

The interior is all dry-walled, walls painted, roll-up partitions installed, and the grid for the drop ceiling is installed.  Much of the interior electric is completed and the furnaces are running!  We are now ready for ceiling, lighting, HVAC finishes, speaker system, floor polishing, interior doors and trim, cabinets, appliances, and all the final finishes.

We praise God for His provisions of talented manpower, unity of spirit, and financial assistance as we patiently progress towards the goal of completion in 2016.  Thank You to all in our brotherhood who have supported us in these areas in the 4.5 years.  We literally could not keep progressing without you.

We have entered into the final phase of our building project.  This phase is the most expensive phase as many purchases are needed simultaneously.  Again, we humbly invite you to partner with us as we attempt to fulfill the final $150,000 of our projected budget.   Donations may be sent to : Brethren Charity Fund, P.0. Box 365, Brookville OH, 45309  or to:  Calvin Durham, 2201 St. Rt. 122 S, Eaton, OH  45320, with a memo for Morning Star Building Fund.

We, at Morning Star, anticipate the day our work ON the building will become worship IN the building with you as our guests.  May God be glorified.

Martyrs Narrative in Ohio

Sunday, October 25th 2015 6:50 AM

The Martyrs Narrative will be presented on November 20 and 21 at the Elizabeth Township Community Center, in the Maple Grove area.  The Center is located at 5760 E Walnut Grove Rd, Troy, OH 45373.  The Narrative will start at 7pm sharp.

This is a reading of historical accounts of the suffering of many saints throughout the ages, combined with the singing of old Martyr’s hymns by the young people. It is a sharing in the sufferings of others, and a solemn pondering of our own lives in an affluent age.  A few of the accounts are graphic. The evening may seem long for children. Parents should use discretion in considering children 7 yrs. of age or younger. Each evening may take approx. 2 hrs.

The first evening will cover the suffering of the saints in the first 1000 years of Christian history. The second evening will bring us up to the present, including some recent events.

All are welcome. Please arrive early!

All-Nations Bible Translation

Sunday, October 4th 2015 6:42 AM

Brother Joel Martin, with All-Nations Bible Translation, plans to be at Brookside Community Center for an informational meeting on Friday, October 23.  The evening will begin at 7:00 PM and all interested parties are very warmly welcomed.

All-Nations Bible Translation (ABT) provides an Anabaptist foundation for Bible translation and church planting and provides direction and resources for translators to take God’s Word into all nations.  Brother Ethan and sister Lynae Wagoner from Cascade Valley are currently serving with ABT in Mexico, and sister Emily Wolf from Lower Twin is currently in training for future service.  Other individuals with close ties to our German Baptist fellowship are very involved with ABT, as well.

There seems to be a growing interest in this work, and the invitation is being freely extended to become better informed about the ministry.  The physical location of the meeting is 428 North Wolf Creek Street, Brookville, Ohio, and the gathering will be in the large basement room accessed from the rear of the shopping center.

Come and be blessed in worship, and receive instruction about what God is doing in our world today as the spreading of the Gospel continues. “And how shall they believe in Him of whom they have not heard?”(Ro 10:14)
