Lighthouse Christian School 2016/17 Financial Needs

Sunday, August 21st 2016 6:47 AM

Dear LCS Supporter…

Thank you for the opportunity to be considered for your support of Lighthouse Christian School.
As we write this, we are in the hustle and bustle of preparing for another school year, which involves setting up, cleaning classrooms, etc. Much more for the staff... the countless hours they spend as they pour their hearts into preparing to instruct our children does not go unnoticed!
We feel blessed to have all the teacher positions filled. The Lord has provided for LCS in many ways this year. In January we didn’t know how we were going to financially make it to February. PRAISE THE LORD, we made it through the year. It is only from him through each one of you that felt led to give to LCS that it was possible. So thank you and May God Bless each and every one of you for coming alongside us in this endeavor!
The vision of Lighthouse Christian School is to provide students with a strong academic education coupled with Biblical principles as taught by Jesus Christ.
Our method of fundraising has been limited almost exclusively to general announcements and informational letters like this.  We understand by our own experience and talking with administrators of past and present schools such as our own, we will need ongoing financial support above what tuition provides, both now and in the future.  It is our desire that this is viewed as an opportunity and not an obligation.  It is only real when the Lord lays it on our hearts to give.  May God’s name be praised as we seek His will.
Last fiscal year our target for donation income was not met. Tuition has not been raised but we encourage those patrons who can, to give freewill donations. The budget for the 2016/17 school year shows a need of$65,950.00in free will donations.
Also as you will see in a separate notice… There will be a need to support the Fire/ADA upgrades that are needing to be made here at the SCOB Facility as well. May God Bless you as you consider these opportunities to give.

Please send your donations to:
Brethren Charity Fund, P.O. Box 365, Brookville, OH  45309

Or to:
Lighthouse Christian School, P. O. Box 166, Brookville, OH 45309

In closing, we ask your prayers on the behalf of the families of this school and in a broader sense, all Christian families seeking to educate their children.  We wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world……(Eph. 6:12).

Sincerely,
The LCS Board

Lighthouse Christian School & Co-Op Programs are being required by county codes to make some significant Fire & ADA updates if we are to continue to operate out of our current leased facility here at Salem Church of the Brethren. We have discussed and asked for support from our School & Co-Op Patrons as well as our School Support Group, and enough support was shown that the decision was made to move forward with the needed updates. There was a significant interest in helping out with labor as much as will be allowed by codes so as to help out with reducing project costs as well as to show good stewardship as we work together with Salem Church of the Brethren.

The initial cost estimate was $63,000 if the project is totally hired out. Salem Church of the Brethren has graciously offered to pay for 50% of the cost of this project which leaves LCS with $31,500 to cover. We plan to implement as much labor saving steps as possible, so do not know exactly what the total cost will be until further into the project. The LCS Board is thinking that if there is extra funds available at completion of the project these funds could be used to help SCOB with any other upgrades that are needing done at their facility.

The LCS Board is asking for those who are enrolled as well as those who feel led in supporting the continuation of the LCS – School and Co-Op programs… for your consideration in helping out financially with this project.

Please send your donations to:Brethren Charity Fund, P.O. Box 365, Brookville, OH  45309or to:Light House Christian School, P. O. Box 166, Brookville, OH 45309with a memo of“LCS – Fire/ADA project”and these funds will be placed into a separate line item on the LCS account, setup special for this project.

May the Lord Bless you richly as you consider this need!

The LCS Board,

Craig Deaton, Layton Yost, Kevin Deaton, Todd Deaton, Jonny Denlinger

Lighthouse Christian School Financial Need

Sunday, January 24th 2016 6:58 AM

Urgent financial need...

It's not easy to be transparent and share this situation regarding our finances but we feel we must.

  • Lighthouse Christian School's income comes primarily from donations and tuition. Currently expenses are up and donations are down, leaving us with a sizable shortfall.

  • The patrons are actively pursuing multiple fundraisers to help with our deficit.

  • At this time we estimate that we need $51,000 to balance the budget by the end of July which amounts to $8,500 per month.

Will you help us?

If the Lord prompts you to support our ministry at Lighthouse Christian School you can do so by mailing a check to:

May God bless you as you consider our need and we thank you for your support!

BCF - Comforter Center

Sunday, January 17th 2016 6:52 AM

Come visit the COMFORT CENTER —- a great place to serve and socialize!  It’s user friendly and child friendly.

THE NEED INDEED IS GREAT!! CAM has announced the goal of collecting 100,000 comforters in 2016 in response to the destitute conditions of which they are aware. The Comfort Center presently has 78 comforter tops ready to assemble, knot, and edge-bind so they can be shipped out. We are blessed to have a freshly re-organized facility in which to generate MUCH good for our fellow men. Will you be willing to lend your heart and hands for this worthy cause?

There is an important spot to fill for ALL of us, not just skilled seamstresses. Women, couples, families, and young folks can find fulfilling work here. The list of opportunities is the following:

 Sorting fabric for block cutting

 Block cutting

 Counting blocks for comforter kits

 Sorting blocks into proper weight and color categories

 Block layout for immediate use or bagging for later

 Stitching comforter tops

 Piecing together material for comforter backs

 Assembling the comfort for knotting

 Knotting the comforter

 Binding the comforter edges

The regular scheduled Comfort Days are Tues. and Thurs. all through the year. The Center will also be open the first Wed. of every month to which you are welcome. If you choose to bring a group on any other day or evening, that can be arranged. Please contact Rita Turner at (937) 564-7318 for your name to be placed on the calendar.

Come use your gifts at this service center, then leave a note in the suggestion box with ideas for improvement! :)

And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily as to the LORD and not unto men; knowing that of the LORD ye shall receive the reward of the inheritance: for ye serve the LORD CHRIST… Col. 3:23-24
